Strategic Vision
“It’s a great time to be an alumnus of the University of North Texas! The Mean Green is upholding our proud tradition with a powerful resurgence in academics, fine arts, research, and athletics.
Today, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not only to sustain this momentum but also to create something truly transformative for the long-term success of the Denton community — a place our students and educators have called home for 135 years.
A visionary group of North Texas graduates, former athletes, and local business leaders has launched an initiative to bring a minor league baseball team to Denton, along with a classic-style ballpark located near or on our campus. This project will enable our athletic department to revive its Division I baseball program and compete at the highest levels against major universities nationwide.
The Denton ballpark will serve as the home field for North Texas baseball and as the headquarters for a minor league team. It will feature retail, dining, and family entertainment options that will enhance the experience for current students, alumni, and sports fans from across the region.
This development can become one of Denton’s central gathering places, a hub for festivals and concerts, a safe space where children, parents, and grandparents can connect, a stadium where a kid can catch their first foul ball. Residents can grab a hot dog, laugh with family, and soak in the energy of a place filled with Denton pride — building lasting memories rooted in community and tradition. It will serve as a fiscally responsible partnership that drives economic growth, drawing new visitors and revenue to Denton’s business community.
Join me and other Mean Green supporters in making this vision a reality. Your donation will help develop a groundbreaking public-private partnership between the University of North Texas, the City of Denton, and Denton’s own baseball team in the American Association of Professional Baseball.
