Strategic Vision
“It’s a great time to be an alumnus of the University of North Texas! The Mean Green is upholding our proud tradition with a powerful resurgence in academics, fine arts, research, and athletics.
Today, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not only to sustain this momentum but also to create something truly transformative for the long-term success of the Denton community — a place our students and educators have called home for 135 years.
A visionary group of North Texas graduates, former athletes, and local business leaders has launched an initiative to bring a minor league baseball team to Denton, along with a classic-style ballpark located near or on our campus. This project will enable our athletic department to revive its Division I baseball program and compete at the highest levels against major universities nationwide.
The Denton ballpark will serve as the home field for North Texas baseball and as the headquarters for a minor league team. It will feature retail, dining, and family entertainment options that will enhance the experience for current students, alumni, and sports fans from across the region.
This development can become one of Denton’s central gathering places, a hub for festivals and concerts, a safe space where children, parents, and grandparents can connect, a stadium where a kid can catch their first foul ball. Residents can grab a hot dog, laugh with family, and soak in the energy of a place filled with Denton pride — building lasting memories rooted in community and tradition. It will serve as a fiscally responsible partnership that drives economic growth, drawing new visitors and revenue to Denton’s business community.
Join me and other Mean Green supporters in making this vision a reality. Your donation will help develop a groundbreaking public-private partnership between the University of North Texas, the City of Denton, and Denton’s own baseball team in the American Association of Professional Baseball.

"A new baseball stadium in Denton would be a prestigious and dynamic addition to the community. Hosting an American Association team presents a unique opportunity for the University of North Texas to launch a highly competitive baseball program. By joining 10 of the 13 American Athletic Conference schools that already have baseball teams, UNT would immediately become a strong contender in the conference."

“Denton is an ideal location for a new market in the American Association of Professional Baseball. A modern ballpark — paired with surrounding retail, dining, and entertainment — would serve as a powerful economic engine for the region. It would also create a safe, family-friendly venue where parents and grandparents can connect with their children and grandchildren. Beyond baseball, the space would offer a much-needed destination for festivals, art exhibits, and concerts. As America’s pastime, baseball has a unique ability to bring communities together, and Denton is well-positioned to enjoy its cultural and economic rewards for years to come.”

This new, local entertainment option will attract families and visitors from across Denton County, which will help local businesses with an influx of valuable spending – and give the North Texas faithful another opportunity to cheer on the Mean Green.”

“Playing baseball at UNT was one of the most formative experiences of my life. The friendships, the competition, and the pride of representing North Texas on the field are memories I’ll always carry with me. The idea of bringing baseball back to North Texas is incredibly exciting — not just for former players like myself, but for the entire community. It would breathe new energy into the region, inspire the next generation of athletes, and be a tremendous win for the University, the city of Denton, and all of North Texas.”
